Having checked with BT I am too far from the Pailton Exchange to get ADSL even when it gets installed there. This must be true for most people in Brinklow. morespeed.net seems the the only reasonable alternative for broadband connection.
I live in the middle of the estate on the West of Brinklow and will be happy to host a node. There is a potential problem: there is no line of site from here to the main site to the Northeast of Harborough Magna - the edge of the Tump is in the way. Hopping via Harborough Magna or Easenhall should be OK but I do not know how much this might affect the traffic capacity to these villages. Is there anyone on a high spot who could provide a repeater site? |

Hi
We are still scratching our heads with regard to Brinklow - We certainly want to provide you with service and you are right, we reckon that most of brinklow is out of range for ADSL - even some of the lines that still come up as possible at the moment.
We have Nodes In Harborough Magna, Easenhall, Pailton and Monks Kirby.
The Easenhall "route" is still the favourite but the tump and all the trees around Town Thorns is still a big problem.
The best chance that we see at the moment is through Town Thorns Farm and cutting across to near the Easenhall road/Cathiron Junction on the bend.
Unfortunately trees hamper this route also. Now this could be got around via a mast in Brinklow so it depends on finding someone to host it.
Dsitance is not too much of a problem. You would still be getting at least 1.5Mbps even over that distance.
So yes if you can find people with views of Harborough Magna, Easenhall, Pailton and Monks Kirby then we really want them onboard.

Just registered.
Any up-to-date news on the possible expansion to Brinklow?
I think that Brinklow is a potentially huge growth area for you.
I am certainly very interested. |

You left a message on the BBS in relation to expansion to Brinklow.
There has been some progress in terms of this in that we now have a
node at Bretford.
If you know anybody that lives down Heath Lane on the left i.e. the
fields side then make sure they register as we are looking for nodes in
this road so that we can then reach the rest of Brinklow.
I have tested signal to the Working Mens club next to the fire station
and I was pulling 1.5Mbps (i.e. 3-4 times normal broadband speed) so
make sure you spread the word - we are now ready to deal with brinklow
and need registrations ESPECIALLY down Heath lane.
Its really up to the community to get motivated and find those
interested in broadband to register on http://www.morespeed.net
Make sure they register on our site. Registering on BT's sites will
not help us at all in knowing who wants service now.
Sincerely
